One of my favorite parts of being a children's book author is getting out into the community and sharing stories with kids. As a former classroom teacher, I know some of the best moments happen after the last page, when children start asking questions, making connections, and sharing their own ideas.
My picture books, One in a Million and Charlie Horse, celebrate curiosity, friendship, belonging, and the wonderful things that make every child unique. I love bringing those messages to life with young readers.
I'd love to share a story with your students! My author visits combine a read-aloud, a behind-the-scenes look at writing children's books, and age-appropriate conversations and activities. Whether I'm visiting a preschool classroom, an elementary school, a library, or a larger assembly, I adapt the experience to your group.
Visit availability: I currently offer complimentary visits to select local schools and libraries, as my schedule allows. For visits outside the local area or special requests, please reach out so we can talk through the details.
We'll explore the rare wonders that inspired One in a Million: Rare Wonders, Rarest You and what happens when an idea grows into a finished picture book. I'll share how I write, how words and illustrations come together, and what it's like to see a story become a real book.
Each visit includes a read-aloud, with an optional coloring and reflection activity. The conversation and activities can be tailored for preschool through elementary school.
With Charlie Horse, we'll talk about friendship, embracing differences, and recognizing the gifts each person brings. I'll share the personal inspiration behind the story and invite children to think about ways they can encourage and include others.
I can also talk with students about HorsePlay and hippotherapy, introducing them to ways horses can play a part in helping children. Visits are adapted for preschool through elementary school.
From classroom read-alouds to school assemblies and community celebrations, connecting with young readers is always a highlight.
Keep the conversation going with a free, printable One in a Million coloring page. Children can color the artwork, draw themselves in the βME!β circle, and finish the sentence βSomething that makes me special...β

I'm working on a companion educator guide for One in a Million with read-aloud questions, age-appropriate activities, and ideas for exploring individuality and belonging. The guide isn't available to download just yet.
Looking for books for a classroom, school library, or community group? I'd be happy to talk about group orders and ways to help put meaningful stories into children's hands. We'll work out book selections, quantities, pricing, and delivery together.

Whether you're planning a school visit, looking for a classroom activity, or simply want to share an idea, I'd love to hear from you. For author visits, include your school or library name, students' age group, approximate group size, and any dates you have in mind. I'll follow up to discuss availability; an inquiry isn't a confirmed booking.
